Kumiko is an independent skincare and hair removal clinic in Aberdeen, created and developed by Jenny Davidson  ~ a registered nurse turned skin therapist, and the owner behind every treatment offered here.

Kumiko was never about chasing trends or becoming the biggest clinic. It was created to be a place where people feel safe, listened to, and genuinely cared for ~ not rushed, judged, or treated like a number.

As we launch our new website, this is the story behind Kumiko, the values it’s built on, and why gentle care has always been the foundation for real results.

Why I Created Kumiko

After completing my nurse training, becoming a mum to three boys, navigating divorce, and later retraining within the beauty industry, one thing became very clear ~ I was deeply passionate about helping people feel better about themselves, both physically and emotionally.

After four years working within a salon, I realised I wanted to create something of my own. A professional space where clients felt truly listened to, where empathy mattered just as much as technical skill, and where treatment plans were thoughtful rather than rushed.

Kumiko was created from a desire to combine clinical standards with a calm, relaxed environment ~ somewhere that feels safe, welcoming, and unhurried.

What the Name Kumiko Means

The name Kumiko was chosen with care. It is a Japanese feminine name meaning “long time beautiful child.”

To me, this represents enduring beauty, grace and gentle strength over time ~  not perfection or quick fixes, but skin health and confidence that are supported properly and last.

These values sit at the heart of everything we do.

From Nursing to Skin – A Natural Progression

My nursing background gave me a strong understanding of the human body, skin health, and the importance of safety, hygiene, and clear communication.

It also taught me how to build trust, reduce anxiety, and explain treatments in simple, reassuring terms. That foundation made continuing my education in skin treatments and permanent hair removal feel like a natural progression.

Clients deserve to feel informed and confident ~ not overwhelmed or pressured.
